Distilers Description:

Old Elk Cigar Cut Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a premium bourbon whiskey produced by Old Elk Distillery, a renowned craft distillery based in Fort Collins, Colorado. This exceptional whiskey is crafted using a unique mash bill of 51% corn, 34% malted barley, and 15% rye, which gives it a rich and complex flavor profile with notes of caramel, vanilla, and spice. This Whiskey is them finished in Sherry, Armagñac

After being distilled, Old Elk Cigar Cut Straight Bourbon Whiskey is aged at  least six years plus secondary maturation as follows:

  • Sherry Cask Finish: 1.5 Years
  • Armagnac Cask Finish: 1.25 Years
  • Port Cask Finish: 3-8 Months
  • Cognac Cask Finish: 3-6 Months

This aging process imparts a deep amber color and complex flavor profile, with notes of oak, smoke, and leather. Once the whiskey has reached its optimal aging, it is finished in casks that were previously used to age cigars, which gives it a rich and nuanced finish with hints of tobacco and smoke.

Old Elk Distillery has a long and storied history as a Colorado craft distillery. The distillery was founded by Curt and Nancy Richardson, the co-founders of OtterBox, a well-known brand of protective phone cases. The Richardsons were passionate about whiskey and saw an opportunity to bring their expertise in design and engineering to the craft distilling industry.

Since its founding, Old Elk Distillery has become known for its innovative and high-quality whiskey products. The distillery uses a combination of traditional distilling techniques and cutting-edge technology to produce exceptional whiskeys that are celebrated by whiskey enthusiasts around the world.

Overall, Old Elk Cigar Cut Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a testament to the passion and dedication of the team at Old Elk Distillery. Its unique mash bill, aging process, and cigar cask finish make it a truly exceptional bourbon whiskey, and a fitting tribute to Colorado's rich whiskey-making tradition
