 Discovery Series #13 is Bardstown Bourbon’s boldest blend yet an audacious experiment in oak that pushes the boundaries of complexity. After crafting their signature Discovery blend from multiple Kentucky bourbons, Bardstown sends the married blend into American oak and Hungarian oak barrels for secondary maturation, uniting rugged American oak character with the refined, cellar-wise influence of Hungarian oak. The result is a layered, resonant bourbon that embodies both tradition and innovation. 

Blend & Composition

• A layered blend of four distinct bourbon components aged 8 to 15 years (in varying mash bills)  
• After blending, the whiskey is split and fully matured in American oak and Hungarian oak before recombining into one expression  
• Bottled at 110.8 proof (55.4 % ABV) for strength without overwhelming finesse  

Tasting Notes

•  Nose
• Caramel and vanilla anchored in traditional bourbon sweetness, layered with baking spice, campfire ash, clove, cinnamon, and subtle toffee drawn from the double oak play.  
• Palate
  The palate opens with classic bourbon traits dark sugar, stone fruit, soft oak but evolves into deeper tannic structure, dried fruit, toasted nuts, black pepper, and a hint of Hungarian oak’s spice and dryness.
• Finish
  Long and warming, with tobacco husk, burnt brown sugar, fine oak tannins, and a lingering echo of mulled apple cider and char.
