Product Description:

Discover Ode to the Valley, a luminous chorus in Glendronach’s Master’s Anthology series. This non-age-statement Highland single malt is matured in a thoughtful duet of ruby Port casks from Portugal’s Douro Valley and the distillery’s house Spanish sherry casks, celebrating an orchard of ripe fruit in every pour.

Tasting Notes

  • Appearance
A radiant burnished copper, evoking sunlit autumn orchards.
  • Nose
Enticing aromas of late-summer berries, sweetened by chocolate de leche, apricot glaze, and floral nectar.
  • Palate
A beautifully layered experience: blackberry and roasted apple crumble, freshly baked gingerbread, and sweet damson plum. These flavors are lifted by cinnamon warmth and floral edges.
Community tasters add: notes of plums, prunes, raisins, honeyed caramel, leather, marzipan, and a sophisticated rancio depth.
  • Finish
Long, plush, and fruit-forward—think lingering honey, tobacco, cloves, and stewed plum sweetness, all rounded by a hint of burnt orange peel.

Serving the Valley

  • Neat – Let every fruit-soaked nuance unfold slowly; this is where the dram truly shines.
  • On the Rocks – One large ice cube gently nuances the lush body while unlocking hidden spices and orchard fruit.
  • Original Cocktail (Highland Orchard Spritz):
    • 2 oz Glendronach Ode to the Valley
    • ½ oz apricot-ginger syrup
    • ¼ oz ruby Port reduction
    • 1 dash orange bitters
Stir gently over ice, strain into a chilled Nick & Nora glass, and garnish with a candied orange slice and a sprig of thyme. This cocktail is like wandering through fruit-laden hedgerows at evening’s embrace—bright, layered, and harmonious in spirit.

Food Pairings

Pair this fruit-bright dram with flavors that echo its orchard roots:

  • A warm berry crumble with buttery shortbread crust—think blackberry or plum.
  • Apricot-glazed roasted pork with fennel or thyme accents.
  • Soft-ripened cheese like Brie or triple-cream Camembert—creamy, tangy, and mellow.
  • Spiced carrot cake or ginger-infused financier, adorned with orange zest frosting.
