Oban Single Malt Scotch Whisky Aged 15 Years • Oloroso & Palo Cortado Finished • Cask Strength
This is Oban with the volume knob turned up.
The Liquor Lineup team sampled this release and immediately agreed: the cask strength delivery unlocks the full body and soul of Oban. The coastal malt character is richer, deeper, and more expressive here, proof that this style thrives when nothing is dialed back. Frankly, we think all Oban should be bottled this way. After 15 patient years, the whisky is finished in Oloroso and Palo Cortado sherry casks, layering dried fruits, toasted nuts, and a savory, almost umami depth over Oban’s signature maritime smoke and citrus peel. At 110.8 proof, it’s powerful but poised, carrying warmth without sacrificing elegance.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Burnt orange, sea spray, toasted almond, fig, and leather-bound books
- Palate: Dark honey, roasted hazelnut, salted caramel, dried apricot, gentle smoke
- Finish: Long, warming, and contemplative with sherry spice and coastal minerality
How to Enjoy
Best enjoyed neat to appreciate its full structure. A few drops of water reveal extra layers of fruit and brine.
Cocktail suggestion (when you’re feeling rebellious): a Cask Strength Rob Roy with a restrained hand on the vermouth to let the sherry finish shine.
Size: 750 mL
Proof: 110.8
This isn’t just an Oban.
